A JOBSPARK EXPLORATION GUIDE
A 30-Minute Career Discovery Activity for the Classroom
This session introduces students to different kinds of work without asking them to make a career decision. Adapt the reading level and materials for your class.
Before the session
Pick three careers from different interest areas, review their printable activities and safety notes, and prepare paper and pencils. Use pairs or small groups if device access is limited.
Minutes 0–5: notice interests
Invite students to name an activity they enjoy and one thing they wonder about. Emphasize that there are no better or worse interests.
Minutes 5–12: discover three careers
Read the daily work sections. Ask students to identify one shared skill and one difference across the three careers. Look beyond familiar stereotypes.
Minutes 12–25: try a small activity
Choose a short activity from a career page. If the full activity takes longer, complete one safe step now and continue in another lesson.
Minutes 25–30: reflect
Each student writes: “I enjoyed…”, “I found this tricky…”, and “My next question is…”. Students can keep their reflections private. Do not require them to rank careers or share personal preferences publicly.
